Brandon Janse Van Vuuren is an international student and a national athlete from South Africa. He is the president of Psi Chi, and the captain of the Men’s Crew Team. Brandon serves as an executive board member for Morgan's Message and is the mental health Chair for S.A.A.C.  

Scott Gratson, Professor of Instruction in Communication and Social Influence, writes " Brandon is an exceptional scholar and athlete, but more importantly, he is truly a sterling example of what a young, dedicated person can do with a seemingly endless amount of engagement and acumen, the type of person it is a pleasure to teach. I have been fortunate to have been able to do so, but additionally and perhaps more important to me personally, I have learned how to be a better educator from Brandon. It has been over thirty years since I first started teaching at the university level. In that time, I had the pleasure of meeting thousands of students. None of them have been as unique as Brandon. His record speaks for itself, but his CV can only suggest some aspects of the vast impact that he has already created. Be it in the arts, sciences, or any other of the myriad fields that make up his fellow student-athletes’ academic initiatives, publicly advancing awareness and understanding of knowledge is foremost on Brandon’s mind".
