Fallon Roth is a senior journalism major and political science minor from Bucks County, PA. She is the Editor in Chief at The Temple News, Temple’s award-winning, editorially independent student-newspaper, where she spent the past four years writing or editing hundreds of stories on public health and safety, politics, labor issues, campus personalities and Temple’s administration, and embarked on the publication’s shift to predominantly digital content. Additionally, Fallon is the social media Director for Her Campus Temple and has interned for Moment Magazine and Billy Penn at WHYY. This summer she looks forward to interning at a paper she’s admired since her childhood and cannot wait to achieve her dream of being a political reporter in the future.
John DiCarlo, Managing Director of Student Media, shares that "It’s not always easy for students caught up in the nonstop news cycle here to stop, center themselves and think of solutions and impact regarding the community in which we work, learn and reside, but Fallon has. This past fall, she worked with Klein Associate Professor Andrea Wenzel’s graduate class on conducting an inclusive content and culture audit, and from that came some great and purposeful ideas and action items, including a community town hall Fallon and The Temple News would lead in which they hope to engage North Philadelphia community members to ask them where they see opportunities for coverage and how their stories can be told. Fallon has also been very helpful in contributing to our Student Media Diversity committee, and I’m grateful for the reporter, leader and person she is".
