Maggie Fitzgerald is a senior journalism major and will be launching her professional career as an on-air reporter in Macon, Georgia in the summer. While at Temple, Maggie has conducted various interviews with community leaders including the late President JoAnne Epps, entertainment stars like Dave Franco, and pursued various competitive internships at 6abc Action News, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and CBS Philadelphia. As a long-time student ambassador for the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, she was inspired by her family's involvement in the annual CBS Philadelphia Alex Scott: A Stand for Hope Telethon to become a journalist and curate change of her own by spotlighting transformative stories around the world.
Managing Director of Student Media, John DiCarlo, writes, “A simple look at Maggie’s resume reveals her outstanding credentials and the immense potential she will carry into what I’m sure will be a brilliant media career. She has been doing impactful and service-oriented work for most of her life. Maggie has helped raise awareness – and a significant amount of money – for pediatric cancer research. Maggie’s younger brother, Cole, sadly passed away this past December. I can’t imagine the immense grief that came with the loss of her brother, but I have known Maggie for four years, and the grace and strength with which she carried herself in and out of the classroom was and continues to be remarkable.
