Moving to Campus

The big day! Every student has a specific move in day and time and you will want to make sure you know where you are going and what to do with your car and your stuff when you get here.

Residential Life Staff and the Resident Assistants (RAs) will greet you and your family and provide directions and assistance while moving into your hall. They will be distributing room keys, mailbox codes/keys, and important documents for you at check-in. We recommend bringing family or friends to assist with your belongings. We can't wait to see you!

Parking and Directions

Parking
After you unload your belongings upon arriving to campus, you will be directed to the closest parking lot being used during move-in to park your vehicle.

2-HOUR PARKING PASS will be given to each student during check-in at no cost.

After 2 hours, we ask that you leave the parking lot to allow space for the next group of students arriving on campus.
We recommend one car per family. Additional cars must pay the daily parking rate.

In the Move-in Guide, you will find a map with directions on campus along with the parking lots each building will use to manage their check-in process. Staff and security officers will also be present to help manage this process and direct you accordingly in order to insure for a smooth transition.

Unloading Your Vehicle

Students and their families will unload their vehicles along the sides of each building in accordance with their move in appointment time. Safety and Security will be out on the road directing traffic and guiding you to the appropriate locations.

When arriving to campus, you'll want to pull along side of the road near the white tents available for move-in. We suggest family/friends stay with the vehicle to begin unloading belongings to the curb while the student goes to their building to check in. For this reason, we generally ask that you bring several friends or family members with you so they can help. Following the unloading of your vehicle, you'll be directed where to park.

To make moving in as easy as possible, each building has a supply of grey Temple University Housing carts that students and their families can use to transport their things from their car to their room.

During the check-in process, students can leave a photo I.D. in exchange for the use of a cart, and to bring the cart back as soon as they are done with it so other students can use them as well. The grey carts will also be available throughout the year and students can use them as needed by going to the front desk of their building during business hours.

Check-in Process
  1. Students checking into our residence halls should unload belongings directly onto the sidewalk area
  2. Parking in front of the halls is limited, individuals should stay with the belongings while others move the vehicle to the lot reserved for move-in
  3. Students should report to the check-in area for their residence hall assignments
  4. Students will receive their room keys and mailbox keys or combinations
  5. Students can check out a cart.

Once you have successfully checked into your residence hall, you can begin moving your belongings into your new home.
