The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects your academic record. Your academic record at Temple University is private and will be kept confidential. 

If you would like selected individuals (emergency contacts, parents, guardians, etc.) to have access to your academic record, please follow the directions to waive your FERPA rights below:

1. Log into TUportal
2. Click on the Self-Service Banner link under the TUApplications menu
3. Click the Student link
4. Click the FERPA Contacts link
5. After reading the informational text, click the New Contact link
6. Enter the requested information and click the Submit Changes link

In an emergency situation, if you would like Temple University staff to contact someone on your behalf, you need to designate one or more emergency contacts. Below are the instructions to do so: 

1. Login to TUportal
2. Click on the Self-Service Banner link under the TUApplications menu
3. Select Personal Information
4. Select Update Emergency Contacts
5. Click New Contact
6. Input emergency contact information
7. Click Submit Changes
