Technology, Textbook and Office Supply Resources

Technology Resources and Support

The Essential Needs Hub is here to support you with technology support in partnership with Information Technology Services.

Student Technology Assistance Application (STAA)

Through the program, registered Temple students may request a Windows laptop semester loan. Students interested in receiving technology support can complete the Student Technology Assistance application in TUportal.

Textbook Affordability

Textbook Affordability at the Hub

Browse a small selection of textbooks available at the Hub. Students are welcome to stop by and see if we have materials that may support their courses.

Textbook Affordability at Temple University Libraries

Students can explore the following Libraries resources for affordable access to required textbooks and course materials.

  • Browse the eTextbook list for course materials. The Libraries purchase eBook copies of many assigned textbooks each semester that are available to students for free.
  • Check Library Search to see whether the Libraries already have copies of your course materials in print or electronic format.
  • Look for the Course Reserves link in the navigation panel of your Canvas course. Here, instructors can link to required course materials or provide instructions for accessing physical versions in the Libraries.
  • Request a print copy from another library if the Libraries do not have the title you need. This is subject to availability.

Philly Community Wireless (PCW)

PCW provides free, community-powered Wi-Fi access in Philadelphia neighborhoods. Visit PCW’s website to learn more about available service areas and how to get connected.

Free Student Phone Plan for Pell Grant Recipients (Gen Mobile)

Students who receive a Pell Grant may qualify for a free monthly phone plan through Gen Mobile’s federal connectivity program. Eligibility and enrollment information is available at Gen Mobile.

Office Supply Swap

The Temple University Office Supply Swap is a program that promotes waste minimization and reuse. Surplus office supplies are made available for free to the university community. Temple administrators, faculty, staff and students can drop off surplus office supplies or "shop" for what is needed in the lower level of the Student Center outside of the Cherry Pantry or on the first floor outside of the Office of Sustainability.
