Ensuring a Path for Student Success

Temple University is committed to providing an excellent and accessible education to all students. We are equally committed to providing a supportive pathway to graduation so each student has the resources they need to succeed in their education. It is our responsibility, now more than ever, to understand the increasing range of obstacles that threaten our students’ ability to focus on and complete their studies.

The Christopher and Julie Barnett Essential Needs Hub is a 30,000-square-foot centralized location on Temple’s Main Campus offering expanded essential services and resources to support every student. All services are led by a team of professional staff, certified peer educator student leaders and intentional cross-divisional collaborators.

What are essential needs?

Essential needs are the fundamental resources required for people to be safe, healthy and participate fully in their daily lives, including access to food, housing, financial stability, mental health resources, transportation, technology and more.

The Essential Needs Hub connects students with these resources so they do not have to choose between their well-being and their education.
